Restaurants, cafés and gas dealers often need a small, reasonably priced gift that customers will keep and use for a long time. Gifts of logo-printed lighters meet exactly that need. This article covers choosing a model, design, printing options and how to hand out the gifts.
Why are logo-printed gift lighters effective?
Used every day: lighting gas stoves, grills, candles, incense and campfires — every use is another time the logo is seen.
They stay with the recipient: the number for booking a table or ordering gas is always to hand.
Small, light and easy to hand out in large numbers, and easy to include with an invoice or a carton of goods.
Choosing a lighter type for the purpose
Flat plastic bodies in solid colours: a flat body surface that is easy to print, suited to large orders handed out at the counter. Models are listed in our gas lighters category.
Clear plastic bodies such as the VNG/BL-001: recipients can see the gas level; they can be printed, but the ink colour needs enough contrast.
Torch lighters: suit grill restaurants and outdoor gear brands.
Metal-bodied premium lines: thank-you gifts for dealers or Tết gifts, with their own gift box.
If you are torn between flint ignition and push-button ignition, see our article on flint vs electronic lighters. For gifts that will end up in households, consider models with a locking mechanism — see child-resistant lighters.
A plain, flat lighter body is an easy surface for printing a business’s logo and contact details.
Tips for designing a logo on a lighter body
Simple, bold lines: the print area is small, and a highly detailed logo will blur.
Clear contrast: a light logo on a dark body or vice versa; clear bodies need dark ink.
One main contact detail: a phone number or social media page name. Use a QR code only if it is large enough and has been test-scanned on a real sample.
Few colours: the number of print colours usually affects cost and lead time.
Do not cover mandatory information such as safety warnings and manufacturer details.
Send vector files (AI, PDF, SVG) and approve a real printed sample before mass production.
Printing on plastic bodies, engraving only on metal
On plastic-bodied lighters, the logo is printed onto the body surface. Whether the logo is printed in a few colours or the whole body is printed in full colour depends on the lighter model; the manufacturer will advise after reviewing the logo file.
Logo engraving applies only to metal parts, such as the bodies of premium gift lines. Never engrave, punch, drill or grind the plastic body that holds the gas: a thinner wall may cause gas leaks. Printing must be done by the manufacturer using a suitable process; do not take lighters that already contain gas to an ordinary print shop for heat pressing or drying.
Quantities, lead times and safety information
Minimum quantity and production time: depend on the model, printing method, number of colours and boxes or packaging trays. Send your request well before the event or the Tết season.
Information to send: logo file, model, body colour, quantity and the date you need the goods.
Safety labelling stays intact: warnings and manufacturer information must not be removed.
Restaurants and grill restaurants: give one with the bill to regular customers, printed with the table-booking number.
Gas dealers: give one when delivering a cylinder to a new customer, printed with the gas ordering number; more ideas in our article on promoting a gas dealership.
Distributors: include them in cartons of goods for retail outlets.
Trade fairs and events: give them only to adults, never to children or students.
Before handing them out, store the gifts in a dry, well-ventilated place out of the sun, and do not leave them in a car parked outdoors.
Frequently asked questions
Is a logo printed on a clear-bodied lighter easy to see?
Yes, if you choose an ink colour that contrasts with the body colour and the gas behind it; approve a real printed sample first.
Can a logo be engraved on the plastic body of a lighter?
No. The plastic body is the part that holds the gas, so it is only printed; engraving is done only on metal parts.
How far in advance should logo-printed lighters be ordered?
It depends on the model, quantity, number of print colours and packaging box. Get in touch early so both sides can agree the model and delivery schedule before the date you need the goods.
